University of New Mexico - MIND

Previously named The Mind Institute (Mental Illness and Neuroscience Discovery)- what is now the Pete and Nancy Domenici Hall in University of New Mexico North Campus is home to the Mind Research Institute. The MRN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which enables scientists from various universities, national laboratories, and research facilities to focus on imaging technology in neuroscience investigation.

Consisting of a 9,855 sq. ft remodel of UNM’s existing MIND and COBRE CMRRC facility and and also a 42,315 sq. ft. two-story addition. Upon entering the building one can see a two-story lobby with a water feature. A structural skylight adds to the natural effect by adding natural light to the space.  The new structure consists of structural steel, masonry, & wood.  The building utilizes cast-in-place concrete site walls and has a primarily stucco exterior, with some exposed architectural concrete elements.  A key element to the structure is a two-story vertical cylindrical conference room clad in zinc-plated metal.
