Firm History
The longtime Albuquerque architecture firm of Garrett Smith Ltd. was founded in 1989. During the 25 years of operation, GSL provided architectural services to a variety of clients throughout New Mexico.
Elizabeth Suina and R. Lawrence Mead, two longtime employees, purchased Garrett Smith Ltd in 2014. The 25-year-old company was reorganized into Suina + Mead Architects.
On June 27, 2016, Elizabeth Suina formed Suina Design + Architecture, LLC (SD+A). Building upon the experience of GSL and SMA, Suina Design + Architecture further refined its business model to provide focused services for Native American communities.
Ms. Suina is currently a licensed Architect in the State of New Mexico, Arizona, and Washington. Ms. Suina is a member of the Pueblo de Cochiti and the sole principal with 100% ownership. Therefore, Suina Design + Architecture is a 100% Native American Woman Owned small business.
