Santa Clara Pueblo FEMA Projects 1 & 2 Planning

Santa Clara Pueblo tasked Suina Design + Architecture in assisting the Pueblo in determining site feasibility, programming and schematic design for FEMA Projects 1 and 2 which are partially funded as improved or alternate projects. Project 1 included the Fire House Garage and Fire Station Guard House. Project 2 included a picnic campground, recreational facilities and infrastructure. In addition, the Pueblo has also included non-FEMA funded projects for the replacement of footbridges and other picnic campground elements. The recommendations for specific Project 1 and 2 implementations were based on feasibility, need for immediate replacement and cost benefit. Each element was evaluated, costs estimated and aligned with the appropriate funding source. The intent of our recommendations was to fully execute the allocated funding and achieve the maximum value for the Pueblo.

The design portion was completed in 2016, after a wildfire the construction was delayed as hundreds of trees and other debris had to be removed. As of now several structures have been completed, but remediation is still underway and the area is only open to tribal members.
