Mora County Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update
Located in Northeastern New Mexico, Mora County faces issues of resource exploitation, population decrease, economic stagnation, seasonal flooding, and limited access to resources such as healthcare, recreational facilities, and healthy food. The issues faced throughout Mora County resemble issues faced throughout the country and in other areas of the world. A lack of access to technology and its benefits for education, communication and resources sharing have hindered the growth of the County.
SD+A was selected to update the County’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan to reflect the changing world and to present opportunities for the County to improve the quality of life for all residents, visitors, businesses and ecosystems that call Mora County home. Our advise built upon other local initiatives to utilize the rich history of the area and the artistic traditions to foster the local creative economy. Concerned with protecting the natural environment, the plan promotes symbiotic relationships that could be used to protect the environment and create economic boosting products.
