The Shops at Las Mañanitas

The historic residence at the corner of Indian School Road and Rio Grande Boulevard dates back 200 years and was once a stop for travelers to Santa Fe. Las Mañanitas, now a neighborhood restaurant, is the cornerpiece of this neighborhood center, which closely follows the Rio Grande Corridor Plan and the Comprehensive Plan’s “neighborhood center” criteria.

The design is a mixture of restaurants, retail, office space and residential units. One- and two-story buildings line the street and property boundaries, creating a lively pedestrian-oriented courtyard where parking is mixed with tree-lined pedestrian paths. Covered walkways and small courtyards provide for cafe life and casual shopping. The style of the village takes its cues from the historic registered “Las Mañanitas” and the historic “Borrego House” in Santa Fe.

The Shops at Las Mañanitas is planned as a neighborhood center in the tradition of Mesilla and the development pattern of early Albuquerque. It will serve the Los Duranes neighborhood and Rio Grande Boulevard commuters, along with visitors to Albuquerque’s North Valley.
