City of Albuquerque - Lucky Paws
Lucky Paws is a storefront within Coronado Mall that serves as an adoption center for Albuquerque’s homeless pets looking for a loving family or owner. Their mission is, “To serve as tireless champions for the animals of Albuquerque by providing them the finest care available along with hands-on assistance in finding happy homes. “ It has the look of a modern, attractive retail shop, rather than the clinical look of old-fashioned shelters. Pets can be viewed by shopping-center patrons who might never have gone to a shelter or considered pet adoption. The store was a piece of a larger program to reduce euthanasia and improve conditions at animal shelters in Albuquerque. In 2010 they reported having already saved almost 7,000 animals and one can only imagine what that number could be now.
