Barnes Residence

Situated on the western escarpment of the Rio Grande river valley, the site is semi-arid with low natural vegetation.  Views are expansive in all directions.  A steep trail allows access to the river from the site. The Barnes residence is a permanent residence designed for frequent guests and family visits with a private office for professional activities. Construction systems consisted of spread footings, steel columns with tapered wood roof trusses, 3 coat cement stucco on wood frame walls, ribbed metal roof and a thermal break metal glazing system. Materials included natural and colored plaster interior walls, maple and carpeted floors.  Steel trellis at west elevation, cantilevered steel canopy at pool deck, stainless steel framed translucent fibre glass screen wall at entry.
