Bagley

The Bagley Studio was conceived as an infill project in a stable but deteriorating residential and light industrial neighborhood.  The context is one of gritty urbanism.  In scale, material and site orientation, the studio is intended as a prototype for future neighboring infill projects.  Distinct interior volumes are expressed minimally in the geometric massing of the project, with corrugated metal, stucco and aluminum storefront doors and windows used to articulate the exterior.  Interior spaces are designed for work and living, with an artist studio and office on the ground level.  The top floor is dedicated to a spacious apartment with flanking porches oriented toward the mountains and the city.  The studio project is a response to the native and the man made, a simple form for a complex landscape.
