Acequia Jardin

With an aging population, and in a time when many people are seeing a benefit in downsizing and being a member of an active community- Acequia Jardin is an innovative and exciting housing option for Albuquerque seniors. The community is compromised of 8 units, as well as a guest casita and a community garden. Each resident also owns a 10% share of these shared spaces. The community garden includes a small orchard and is watered via irrigation from the adjacent acequia.

The appeal of Acequia Jardin is in the sense of community that is grown from the co housing model. Through close proximity and shared spaces, residents are more than just neighbors. Too often as one ages, there can be a feeling of isolation, being alone in a large house can become unfulfilling or a burden.
